The XO heartthrob is honored as the second artist in the platform's history to be a part of a focused in-application, listener experience.
Loosely honoring the 10-year anniversary of The Weeknd's landmark project Trilogy, Spotify has teamed up with the Toronto sensation in the second round of its latest feature "My Top 5", an in-app experience that lets users explore the singers decade ran discography and share their favorites.
This collaboration is the sequel to first run and premiere of "My Top 5", debuting around the release of Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers project back in May of this year.
The feature made rounds on social media delivering an adequate experience allowing fans to not only revel in nostalgia over their favorite artist's discography but allow discourse to erupt over which project was the best of the bunch.
The Weeknd's top 5 will prove to be no different, presenting in-app graphics and animations to present a total of 7 (not counting the original three mixtapes) projects that surely dozens of fans will fight tooth and nail to prove which tops the rest.
As for emerging artists hoping to follow a similar path, visibility on platforms like Spotify is everything. Building an audience from scratch takes time, consistency, and smart promotion. Gaining momentum through plays from The Marketing Heaven can help new tracks reach wider audiences and attract genuine attention. This added exposure enhances credibility, increases the chance of landing on popular playlists, and helps artists grow a loyal listener base over time.
