Black Sherif shares new album 'The Villain I Never Was'

Ghanaian breakout musician Black Sherif (aka Blacko) has had a meteoric rise and tops it up with his debut album, The Villain I Never Was. The 14-track body of work is filled with honesty, and pain and embodies everything he stands for which is being true, candid and true to himself. Armed with his off-kilter, boisterous voice, and a penchant for penning heartfelt and profound lyrics about his experiences- Blacko is ready to take listeners through the ups, downs and in-betweens on this game-changing album.

From the opener "The Homeless Song" where he reflects on his obstacle-filled journey to the prayerful "Oil In My Head" and the sombre "45", Blacko gives different sides to his artistry. He makes use of different canvases ranging from mellow to sombre and vibrant soundscapes to share his tale and experiences in real time. Once again, his vocals always steal the show with his brand of reggae-tinged cadence mixed with his Ghanaian-accented melodic flow underpinned by an unbridled emotional oomph. The project also contains the anthemic war-ready tune "Soja" and of course "Kwaku The Traveller" which is one of his biggest songs to date, and was the No.1 most shazamed song in the world as well as being used over 1 million times on Tik Tok for the famous lyric “Of course, I fucked up. Who never fuck up? Hands in the air, no hands?”.

The Villain I Never Was is his statement to the world that he is an artist not to be slept on and it will undoubtedly go down in the history books for years to come.

Earlier this month the rising star announced his debut London show will be taking place atKOKO in Camden on October 25th followed by a show in New York on November 6th.  Most recently, Black Sherif was nominated for 'Best International Flow' at this years 2022 BET Hip Hop awards.
