The Winter Codes pay ode to Ireland and their fallen bandmate on 'Set The Darkness Reeling'

Irish folk duo The Winter Codes craft a dual homage to not just their native Ireland but to their fallen bandmate Paul Walshe on 14-track album Set The Darkness Reeling, infused with their signature traditional folk soundscapes and a touch of punk.

Moving from the energetic folk-rock stylings of “Troublesome Girl,” led by an infectious and soaring chorus courtesy of featuring artist folk musician Lisa Loughrey to a celebration of the Irish spirit on lead single “Too Sly to Die,” which is accompanied by a music video shot in Dublin landmark pub The Cobblestones, the album from Barney Murray and David Walshe brims with emotion and passion.

Featuring collaborations from the likes of Daithi Meila from the Irish/Bluegrass band Jig Jam to engineer Sean Montgomery Dietz, the collection offers up something for everyone while a common emotive thread stretches through it in heartfelt tribute to their bandmate Paul Walshe, who tragically passed away a decade ago.

Weaving smoothly through Irish folk, rock, and everything in between, Set The Darkness Reeling is an anthemic yet vulnerable body of work  led by expert musicianship and raw passion that the band encapsulates.
