Toyin Ores shares new single "KOKOSĘ", featuring The Cavemen

Toyin Ores (born Oluwatoyin Eyimofe Oresanya on April 18, 1995 in Ogun State, Nigeria) is a genre-bending Nigerian recording artiste, producer, and sound engineer who is based in Lagos, Nigeria. He started his musical journey in 2009 as a secondary school student who would play around with Audacity and Fruity Loops to make beats for fun, and to lessen the production costs for his friends’ studio sessions. It wasn’t until 2017, when he was pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, that he started taking it seriously.

Since then he has released a total of 3 personal projects, 2 Joint EPs and 13 singles, whilst producing for world class acts like ShowDemCamp, Tems, Wizkid, Shalom Dubas, and Lamii; and opened up for major industry acts like Mr. Eazi, Patoraking, Joey Bada$$, and Kyle.

Coming into 2022 he was looking to challenge himself in a way that would benefit his music and his positioning as an artist. So he set a goal to release a single every 2 weeks, while continuing to record and produce amazing projects for other artists (some of which are set to be released in the final months of the year). One of the best singles that came from that decision is his latest release- "KOKOSĘ."

"KOKOSĘ" is a smooth banger that features The Cavemen– a two person neo-highlife band that has taken over the Nigerian music scene with their unique take on highlife, soul and afrobeats. "KOKOSĘ" (featuring The Cavemen) is a beautiful blend of afrofusion, afropop and highlife that explores the wonders of love and the things we do because of it.

With production contributions from Waveman03, Toyin Ores himself, and The Cavemen as well, the song has layers of musical complexity made simple. The record starts with vocal ambiance rendered by Knote (Kingsley Okorie) and soulful chords played on an electronic keyboard by Waveman03, all followed by infectious shakers that rhythmically usher you into the song.

As he starts off the first verse, he expresses his need to not rush things, especially when it comes to love. Backing him up in words and in flow is the brilliant Benjamin James who slides in on the next verse singing about a type of love that unravels minds- "this your love a bakala m isi, nwanyi nka…." The hook and bridge flow into the mix easily with some more vocal ambience, live samples, live bass from Waveman03 and Kingsley Okorie, and rich jazz keys to close out the track.
