IM’PERETIV and Chayna Ashley praise the art of lyrics in “Dear Lord”

Canadian producer IM’PERETIV and acclaimed underground rapper Chayna Ashley are currently working on a joint project, The Precedent, with a slew of singles released earlier in the year. They follow up with their third and final single titled "Dear Lord" which is a posse cut with veteran Philly rapper Dutch Brown, Dan Barz, and Brillo. The gritty record starts with an ominous bassline and moody piano riff that slowly picks up with a laid-back, but punchy drum groove. Chayna sets the tone with her commanding vocals and battle-ready lyrics but she also throws in some reflective lines such as "From the Kool-Aid, peanut butter days/ Wishing mum had a few steaks/ But, I digress it's the same songs getting played, just like cassettes" to give a well-rounded view. Dutch Brown joins the fray with that edgy Philly swag and a handful of verbal threats for small fries reminding them that he is a rap version of a Kaiju. Dan Barz and Brillo handle the third and final verses respectively with equal bravado and graphic lyrics and street-infused rhyme schemes.
