Veteran LA emcees, Fatlip and Blu return with a new single "Hollywood Celebrity" which pokes fun at the exquisite lifestyles of the rich and famous. The record produced by Sa-Ra Creative Partners is ushered in by veteran neo-soul act Bilal who opens it up with a reflective chorus. Fatlip kicks off the first verse, musing on the ups and downs of celebrity status and the plight of the common man, juxtaposing both extremes in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Blu follows suit with a retrospective approach, looking at a what-if situation where he never got to the limelight and was busy scraping through auditions after auditions. The duo give a refreshing take on how fame can make or break an individual and remind us that it's never a walk in the park.
"Hollywood Celebrity" is the final single to be released from the duo's forthcoming collaborative project Live From the End of the World Vol. 1, (Demos), that's out this Friday, 4/29, via Guilty By Association(GBA). It follows previously released singles – the Knxwledge-produced “Street Life” featuring MC Eiht, the Madlib-produced, ode to golden age West Coast hip hop "Gangsta Rap" and “Good For The Soul,” featuring Hemlock Ernst (Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring) and Rass Kass.
