Rising US-based afrobeat producer, rapper, and singer Lasgiidi is back in the lab after taking a break from music with his new release "Whoozy." A mid-tempo bouncy afropop jam that is built on a pulsating bassline, hypnotic textures, and layered melodic performances from Lasgiidi and fellow rapper PsychoYP. The two go back and forth with the flows as they celebrate their successes and make a toast to the good life. Lasgiidi sets it off with his blend of Nigerian parlance mixed with patois followed by PsychoYP's melodic rap style and carefree flow.
After harboring the aspiration to be a music star at a young age, Lasgiidi later moved to the USA to further his education but he never stopped making music and kept juggling education and his first love. He eventually got his first major break when he dropped his summer single "Logo" in 2016 and has since built an impressive portfolio in the Nigerian music scene. He won the inaugural AFRIMMA Set the Stage Competition in 2015 and later worked on a couple of songs with Nigerian rapper Olamide.
"Whoozy" is a single from his forthcoming Still I Rise EP which features Nigerian-American artist J-Lomah, award-winning NBA DJ Poizon Ivy, and highly acclaimed producers Demsa and Giggz. The EP will be his first body of work since he started making music and also a return for the artist after taking a sabbatical, mostly caused by the complications brought about by the pandemic.
