Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and poet Atoosa Grey is known for her contemplative folk-laced baroque pop. Her latest single “Storms” is a reflective exploration of the highs and lows of love and loss.
In “Storms” Atoosa Grey brilliantly describes being blind-sighted in a romantic relationship and ultimately realizing that what she thought were to be true is indeed not. Of this latest release, Grey confides, “Sometimes we're taken along in a storm, and realize things are not what they seem. The song explores doubt, acting like a wounded animal, and like someone you're not.”
Feeling shocked and confused in any situation can lead to a destructive change in behavior and Grey highlights that theme in her new single. With emotive piano and moody cinematic strings under Grey’s soulful and expressive vocals, “Storms” is a haunting yet irresistible single about broken faith. The accompanying visuals were created by animator Michael Arthur and feature whimsical characters grasping for a heart symbol representing love and connection. In the end, though, the character finds closure in acceptance and understanding that while the love might not be within reach, healing can be.
“Storms” is off of her latest 8-track release entitled Dear Darkness—a piano-driven album exploring themes such as confrontation, raw honesty, sadness and hope. Grey is often found performing in local venues throughout New York. In addition to performing and writing music, the artist is a published poet.
