Spray launches new label with 1997 re-issue from Dimension 23

Spray, one half of Ireland’s finest duos — Brame & Hamo — has launched his own label, with the first release coming from LA rave legends Dimension 23. Originally released in 1997, Spray’s focus for the label is showcasing his favourite breakthrough talents, alongside a few hand-picked re-issues. Set to be released in 2020, Dimension 23’s 23 Years Later finally sees the light of day, featuring a heavy-hitting remix from one of the UK’s brightest stars, Or:la.

23 Years Later (Incl. Or:la Remix) by Dimension 23

“I.M.O.K. R.U.O.K.” kicks things off with a heavy dose of acid; it’s a rave-ready cut, oozing that ‘90s sound that we crave so much today. Filled with squirming rhythms, pummelling bass, and futuristic vocal snippets, this one’s an absolute corker. It’s easy to see why this was a pick to be re-issued; every dancefloor could do with a dose. Or:la steps in on remix duties for this one, keeping things just rave-y enough for the dance, and just psychedelic enough for the afters. There aren’t many tracks that take you on a journey the way this one does. A perfect contemporary take on an oldskool tune, Or:la’s wizardry is showcased to perfection here.

“12,000 Ravers” does the complete opposite of winding things down, taking the energy to a new level. Ravey breakbeats and nimble switches to 4/4 rhythms keep us on our toes, whilst heavy injections of acid whisk us into a different realm. We can only dream of hearing this one on a proper soundsystem; proper mind-bending stuff.

23 Years Later can be streamed and purchased via Bandcamp.
