Rushes continues the lead-up to his album Glowchild with this beautifully dark new single "Blue Ghost".
Rushes has been in the process of establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Irish music scene. Having been a part of a label structure and navigating that path, Rushes discovered that the independent route would be more beneficial for him. Speaking that into existence, Rushes released his last single "Funds" which was the most well-received single of his career thus far. "Funds" has been sitting at number two in the Irish breakthrough singles chart with heavy hitters such as Gavin James.
"Blue Ghost" is a significantly darker take from Rushes. The alternative artist delves into many new sounds in this release, relying heavily on his experiences at raves and the atmosphere that fills those type of events. The track is abrasive, loud, and thought-provoking. Lyrically, Rushes juxtaposes these dark tones with stories of spiraling out of control and breaking out of the bonds of attachment. The sheer mix of instruments and sounds in this record is mind-blowing. The orchestral section that leads into the rave-inspired drum patterns is of particular note.
The music video is directed by Eddie O'Flaherty and was shot in West Cork. It follows Rushes as he chases sobriety through the final embers of night and the hope to make the world stop spinning. This track teaches us that chaos can be helpful in creating some of the most beautiful art that we have ever seen. Keep an eye and an ear out for Rushes and his album Glowchild which is out on September 10th.
