Formed in 2016 by India Shore and Claire Altendahl, rising indie band Boyish just released the music video for their track "July" from their recently-released Carnation album.
As quickly as the first few seconds, the listener is hypnotized by both the song and visuals. The lead singer's voice takes the listener to an emotional, reflective place; it's captivating and still holds plenty of musical value in how powerfully the vocals are laced over the minimal guitar and steady drums. The song is paced perfectly and emotion is drawn in nearly every moment as the track discusses relationships and a sincere longing for another person. The impressively entrancing vocals are put front and center, with moments of strain making "July" believable and authentic. The video, directed by Lula Hyers, sees the duo and others sharing moments together and alone, sometimes singing to the camera drenched in water, and other times, focused on another person in a moment of intimacy.
