It’s human nature to want what we shouldn't have any business in. What’s best for us doesn’t always seem like the most appealing option. Thankfully in those times, we can count on the guidance of good friends. But sometimes, even the words of friends aren't enough to convince us when our heart is committed otherwise—no matter the consequence.
Toronto R&B and Soul hummingbird Nicole Chambers shares her experience with that same sticky situation on “Committed Fool”. The video shows Nicole's friends ringing her up to invite her to a girls' night out—a request Nicole prompt denies. She already has plans to hang out with her ex, one that both Nicole and her friends know is no good for her. All is going splendid on her date, that is until her friends cross path with Nicole and her ex—and let them both have it.
Chambers explains the inspiration behind the song: “This song is a creative wake-up call for anybody in a sticky situation that you have no business being in. Sometimes we need our girlfriends to call us out in order to realize he is not worth it. Speaking on the story behind the video, Chambers further details: “'Committed Fool' is my first official music video. I wanted the video to showcase what happens when us girls get caught up in telling small white lies to our girlfriends to hang out with an ex we know we shouldn’t be hittin’ up. Myself and videographer Jordan Francis aka Mixtapper wanted to make sure that the end scene was the main focus. That heated final scene shows my girlfriends catching me out with my ex when I should be hanging with them. That was definitely a moment I dread to ever become a reality." Turns out, sometimes all it takes is the tough love of true friends to get us back in our senses.
