It’s been almost a decade since Bedouin Soundclash released their last album Light The Horizon and in that time, the Canadian duo wasn’t sure they would make music together again. Lead singer Jay Malinowski wrote a novel and released two solo albums while bassist Eon Sinclair kept a full schedule of session work and DJ gigs. Recently, though, the two reconnected and have put together an album of new music called MASS, which is due out on October 4 via Easy Star, Mr. Bongo, and Sony Canada. With the album announcement, the group is also releasing a stylish video for the single “Salt Water.”
Bedouin Soundclash has always had an eclectic palette of sounds and influences, and “Salt Water” is no different. With production collaboration with former Digable Planets DJ King Britt, much of MASS was recording at Marigny Studios in New Orleans with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who grace “Salt Water” with some buoyant horn lines throughout. Les Claypool collaborator Mike Dillon also joins the song on marimba. “Salt Water” marks a triumphant return for Bedouin Soundclash, with its unique sound and jubilant energy that will surely get audiences excited for the new album.
MASS will be released on October 4 and is available for pre-order here.
