L.A native Gothic Tropic (AKA Cecilia Della Peruti) is the fresh-faced voice of a generation that is both nostalgic about its past and emphatic about its future. Blending classic sounds with modern alt-pop flavours, she breathes life back into dusty memories while paving the path for new experiences. Her latest single, "Drunk on a Rhythm" is an infectious anthem promoting joy and self-indulgence.
Opening up with a foot-tapping rhythm comprised of Tame Impala-inspired drum kicks and whimsical chords, the track gently eases in Peruti's silky vocals. Sinuously gliding over the fervent production, Peruti lusciously executes with a calm West Coast charm. The satisfyingly climactic chorus perfectly balances the track's explosive lyrical affirmations with its basal wistful melody. The effect leaves you feeling invigorated and simultaneously pensive. A feeling shared by Peruti, as she explains that "the song’s theme is on my most recent breakup. Releasing ‘Drunk on a Rhythm’ first is my way of being generous to myself; helping me heal from betrayal, accepting joy, and moving on. The overall meaning of the song nurtures my independent identity in all its truth."
"Drunk on a Rhythm" is Peruti's first release in two years and will appear on her forthcoming new album.
