Sampa The Great shows that her moniker wasn't chosen for fun as she returns on an epic note with the triumphant single titled "Final Form". Backed by the anthemic production of Silentjay (Rhythm Section) who flips a vintage soul sample (The Sylvers) into something suited for Sampa's fiery lyrics and gripping performance.
The single, which serves as her first release for 2019, sees Sampa in her element as she details the struggle of evolving as an artist amidst all the negativity floating around her. Sampa adds that the fundamental idea of the song is all about expanding as an individual in any way shape or form. The visuals for "Final Form" is a journey back to her roots as Sampa takes us back to the motherland, Zambia to be precise. Here, she bridges the gap between the traditional worlds of Nyau dancers and modern Zambian youth culture. Besides being a physical return to her roots, there is also a spiritual aspect to this reconnect. The track reflects a very personal acknowledgment of her multicultural upbringing – as she was raised by a Bemba mother and Tumbuka father.
The Zambia-born, Botswana-raised emcee is truly in her "Final Form" here. Get it on Spotify.
