Sometimes a little bit of grit goes a long way in keeping the balance in this crazy world. Hip-hop veteran AWAR's newest release sure keeps it gutter in tact using an 80s rock/pop sample flipped into a hard-hitting street slapper. Aptly titled "Bricks Like 86", the BX native takes us back to the crack era which made young men into millionaires. It may seem like he is glorifying the situation but it's far from it as he presents all the possible outcomes with such vivid details and precision over the lush backdrop crafted by in-demand beat monster Vanderslice. AWAR also recruits the services of 2/3 of The Lox, Styles P. and Jadakiss who both contribute their personal insight into the subject matter. If you like your hip-hop, raw, uncut and unfiltered, then this one is for you. Also, watch out for the creative sample flip at the end by the way.
"Bricks Like 86" is taken from AWAR's upcoming full-length project Spoils of War. You can also purchase the 7" vinyl via his Bandcamp.
