Producer and singer-songwriter Julia Lewis enlisted emcees Yung Pinch and Larry June for a smooth flowing new single "Living Fast Sipping Slow". Featuring a sleek but multifaceted instrumentation and a hypnotic bassline, this latest single manifests a sense of rugged solitude as it plays between slow-burning snares and sharp hip-hop lyricism. Hit play below:
"I love combining ingredients into a song that otherwise haven't been presented together – like two artists with unique styles who haven't been on the same track together. In this case, Pinch liked the beat and got on it first, and once Larry heard it, he said he immediately wrote his verse. It came together like a spicy home-cooked meal." Julia Lewis
Huntington Beach's own Yung Pinch and Bay Area Larry June are two prominent emcees who have carved out very different names for themselves in the West Coast hip-hop scene. But somehow Benjamin Falik, aka Julia Lewis, managed to get these two in the studio together, or at least on the same track, to deliver something truly special. With a blend of hip-hop beats and a few hints of bass elements, this track flows effortlessly through troughs of immense production. The intimate harmonized vocals on the chorus compliment an overall hypnotic trait making this single an overwhelmingly infectious hip-hop track.
Falik has been hard at work in the studio and this is just an early sign of what's still to come from the young producer. In 2018, Falik earned a co-sign from Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds at the R&B legend’s inaugural songwriting camp in LA. In addition, Falik has been selected as a producer/writer for the prestigious song workshop, Secret Genius Los Angeles. With a love for R&B, Jazz and various electronic music, he's quickly become a go-to producer for singers like Joyce Wrice, Bosco, and Duckwrth – as well as rap artists like Rexx Life Raj, G-Eazy, and Caleborate.
Upcoming releases from Falik include a late-2018 EP, as well as a continuous stream of singles including artists like Lil B, Maurice Moore, Guapdad 4000, and Gemaine. With additional work alongside producers like Ryan Hemsworth, Drew Banga, and Mr. Carmack.
His project Julia Lewis is only a small display of the overall talent this artist is capable of. Having the ability to blend such a vast array of different styles of R&B, hip-hop and electronic bass so poetically, if Falik isn't already on your radar, then wake up.
