Pirate radio was the only way a lot of London could get to listen to their favourite underground artists & DJ's. There was a higher echelon of stations that always had the HOTTEST people in the city on their airwaves. It started many great careers, with artists such as Wiley, Dizzee Rascal & Skepta all starting off doing sets on pirate stations. Having to drive around in some cases just to pick up the frequency, it was truly remarkable the amount of people they used to have tuning in.
For London born Murkage Dave, pirate radio contributed to his vast love of music, and the stations he lists in the songs title all played a part in shaping him into the artist he is today. "Magic Mission Deja Rinse" is a tale of nostalgia for Dave, with his soft, subtle vocals telling you the story of what it was like for him growing up as a young black male in inner city London. The trials and tribulations he's been through are all told effortlessly on this joint, as he sits atop a smooth, head-nodder of a beat. You can stream the track above, and it's also available to stream/buy on all major streaming platforms!
