There's always time for jazz, especially when it's fused with elements of soul and packed with hip-hop sensibilities. First meeting in North London, GeeJay, compromised of singer Gina Jane and producer Jacob Lobo, took this fusion to new heights, which led to their performing a sold out crowd at their debut show at the Sebright Arms in London. Their tunes caught the ear of mix engineer Mo Hausler, and now EARMILK proudly presents their debut single: "Horizon."
Gina Jane's voice sticks to all the bright notes of classic, brooding blues singing. She pulls the light out of every minor chord, allowing the emotions of the cut to stew in the pensive piano line. Hazy synth lines and a rich saxophone melody give "Horizon" just enough body and depth before the keys hit a syncopated high and Gina's voice lilts in time. As a debut single, "Horizon" establishes GeeJay as a duo positioned to fascilitate and usher in a fresh voice to the modern jazz renaissance.
