Saba and Jamila Woods are two of the most prominent heroes in Chicago's sprawling music landscape. We know Saba from his acclaimed Bucket List Project, and we know Jamila Woods from everything art and activism. Woods is a successful poetess, with several publication credits and a Pushcart nomination under her belt. She also finds time to be a brilliant singer. Her soulful and empowering album, HEAVN, captured hearts last year, and is now available on vinyl. Saba appeared on the original version of "Emerald Street" with one of his quintessential upbeat feature verses.

For the remix, Saba took the flourshing and fervent Peter Cottontale production and flipped it into a more high energy, jittery soundscape, while also adding an extra verse in the process. The "Emerald Street" remix is the second release from Saba this month, following his new single "There You Go," which was named Best New Track by Pitchfork. Jamila Woods has also had a strong few months, releasing a community video for her gorgeous and glittering "LSD," featuring Chance The Rapper. With treatments written by CPS students, the video doubled as an enrichment program for Chicago creatives to get their well-earned chance to partake in the music and creative business.
