Consistency and solidarity in a sound is an element that keeps artists relevant and memorable. Of course, it's difficult to set artists apart in the saturated herd. I had first heard of Miami-based Flapo about a year ago in his sinister yet whimsical original "Dear Neighbour". Since then the artist has been shaping together a sound full of innovation and intricacies. Originally from Colombia, Flapo utilizes his background in playing guitar and bass by bringing forward organic emotions to his electronic sounds. And from tracks like "Ghost" to his remix of "The Last Time", Flapo consistently extracts emotions in the usage of playful vocal chops and fantastical layering.
Today EARMILK premieres his remix of NoMBe's work "Young Hearts". The original is a serene soundscape with minimalistic tactics used to create a dreamy feel. Flapo adds a fresh energy and flavour to the work by adding an echoey feel. Slightly sped up and perkier than the original, the tessellation of NoMBe's vocals create a dainty vibe to the work. Simple yet powerful chords paint a fresh vibe to the track, lifting emotions upwards in the remix. Flapo proves himself as an eclectic artist in this remix, pushing the boundaries by altering a track's feel completely to make it his own, while not undermining the original's authenticity.
