I had first heard of Vanic a couple years back in his now classic remix of K. Flay's "Make Me Fade", which has hit a respectable 20 million streams on just Soundcloud alone. Aside from his unique sound, I was also excited by the fact that the producer was also from my hometown, Vancouver, BC. Since that discovery, I've been a fan of both Vanic's electrifying remixes and creative originals. In the past few years the artist has remixed a handful of diverse tracks including works by Coleman Hell, Major Lazer & more. There's something in the way that Vanic remixes works that makes the track completely his own. Whether it be his grandiose synth use or skill in completely flipping the original tone, Vanic has mastered the art of remix, making his reworks almost always instantly recognizable.
In his latest remix, he dives into hip-hop territory and adds his own take on Big Sean's hit "Bounce Back". Almost dark and twisted in his shiny layered synths, Vanic elevates the original to another layer. His twisted lead synths embrace heavy distortion and merge a forward thinking sound not typically paired with hip hop works. The buzzing bass immerses listeners in a vivacious sonic experience easily attributed to Vanic's trademark sound. This innovation of pairing unlikely sinister sounds to a hype hip hop track brings Vanic up futher in the electronic world.
