With Halloween just around the corner, it's only expected that artists will be putting out their darkest and most menacing tracks to spook our ears. With the ability to shift sounds, distort synths and develop jarring beats, electronic music is an idealistic breeding ground for Halloween inspired tunes. Inversely, the "Halloween" aesthetic can be attributed to varying styles within the electronic realm. From the griminess in Snail's "Vomit step" to the dark industrial vibes in Gesaffelstein's art, "spookier" vibes can be found everywhere.

Who better to bring us a taste of Halloween spirit, than the secretive entity of producer k?d? Best known for his fantastical future bass tastes in remixes of Daft Punk's "Doin' It Right" or his original "Birth of the Universe", k?d has made huge waves in the scene. The beginning of "Mortem" begins with a light ambient sound of children laughing and playing. Eventually this is creepily juxtaposed with a daunting bass that is fortified towards the leading drop. With a sharpening of knives, solemn wind chimes and eerie static noise leading up to a pulsating industrial drop, shivers are sure to crawl up listeners spines. The track is reminiscent of REZZ's gritty tech house vibes, whom k?d has announced he has collaborated with. But until that monstrous release, enjoy what k?d has to offer to fill the Halloween season.
