Major Lazer has done it again. Since I saw them at North Coast Music Festival in Chicago this past summer, I have been a huge fan. They released their first album in 2009, and they have blown up since (two years old and already legends in my mind… impressive). Major Lazer consists of DJ/producers Diplo and Switch. They are one of the most consistent DJ duos around nowadays, releasing hit after hit. Their newest music video release, "Original Don", does not fall short of expectation.
The track starts off with a slower moombahton kind of feel, transcending into a faster BPM. Yes, in my opinion, this is a "dance your ass off" type of tune. That said, the music video does the track justice. With a "suburban"-esque feel, the video starts with a woman, knives, Diplo, a dog, and a senior citizen that resembles most Midwest grandmothers. Well casted, Major Lazer, well casted indeed. After watching this video, I am sure I won't be the only one attempting to follow par and make knife-dancing look as cool, if not cooler, than this. And I'll be sure to whip out my moves at the next suburbanite barbecue I attend next summer.
