Los Angeles-based label Brainfeeder has become an important contributor to the modern jazz scene, thanks to artists like Flying Lotus, Thundercat, and Kamasi Washington. Taylor McFerrin is another important figure in the label's slow transformation, although he's flying a little more under the radar so far. The multi-instrumentalist's debut album, Early Riser, ran through a number of jazz-inflected styles with complete nonchalance, including standout collaborations with Robert Glasper and Nai Palm of Hiatus Kaiyote.

Another noteworthy track was the epic intro, "Postpartum," a slow-building maelstrom of whirling synths and crashing cymbals. Now, after a break from the public eye, McFerrin has shared a wild reinvention of "Postpartum" courtesy of Dorian Concept, as well as a list of U.S. tour dates for the spring. It's been a minute since Early Riser dropped, so expect some new material if you're lucky enough to catch McFerrin live. Dates are below.
