Straight From the Teet – Crystal Antlers, Rawhead, & Mindthings

There's no exact way of knowing how many songs are released in a day. Whether it be an eighteen second kazoo ditty on Soundcloud, or a Hypem track with 4 hearts, all music deserves a shot. Even on an independent blog like Earmilk, it's impossible to cover every band/song/remix worth listening too. That's why Straight From the Teet is back, and this time…IT'S DAILY! My name is Logan (aka Running) and I will be curating Earmilk's newest old feature, highlighting three up-and-coming artists from three different genres, so sit back and enjoy some good-old-fashioned, non-pasteurized, Earmilk. Drink it fast though, because I'll be coming back tomorrow with more…

Noise-Pop

They aren't the Crystal Castles, they aren't The Antlers, and (oddly enough) the Crystal Antlers sound nothing like either of the aforementioned bands. Their distinctive brand of up-beat, lo-fi, noise-pop, evokes (at least in my mind) strong teenage imagery. "Summer Solstice" reminds me of angsty flings, long-days, and aimless late-night driving. It's the debut single off their upcoming release Two-Way Mirror (July 19), and you'd be remiss in passing up this feel-good track.

(P.S. Check out the 70's inspired visuals for the "Summer Solstice" music video)

Ambient

The ultra-talented, genre-melding, ambient producer Rawhead has about as much internet presence as my octogenarian grandmother. Rawhead's latest release Psychopomp is only partially available online, you have to contact him via Bandcamp to order a vinyl copy that has both side A and side B. Now, I'm no vinyl snob, but even I know that proves Rawhead's confidence in the quality of his music. I've included most of side A in this post, but hope you'll visit Sub-Bombin records to check out the rest of his releases. He stands up to heavy-weight-label-mates like Phantogram with ease.

Chillwave

One of my favorite blogging pastimes is cruising Bandcamp, listening to all the artists who live in cool places. My obsession with Copenhagen has rounded out Straight From the Teet for the past few days. Mindthings is a one man chillwave project out of Bordeaux in France, and his latest EP Consequences of Unseen Effects is "chill"-iingly beautiful. I've included the EP in it's entirety (including a great remix by Tenkah) as well as some older tracks that I've been listening to for quite some time.
