West London singer-songwriter Dea Doyle returns with her latest release, “Marina.”
Doyle's new single is shaped by family, memory, and loss, written in honour of her late aunt, and reflects on the lasting impact someone can have long after they are gone, capturing the way grief can weave itself into everyday life. Doyle explores the ongoing relationship we maintain with the people we miss, carrying them forward through memories, milestones, and the stories we continue to tell.
Musically, “Marina” pairs that emotional weight with a warm, melodic backdrop. Drawing from indie-pop foundations and classic singer-songwriter influences, the arrangement feels rich and enveloping. There is also a strong family thread running through the recording itself, with Doyle’s father contributing bass and backing vocals, making the song feel even more connected to the people at its centre.
Having previously explored relationships in much of her earlier work, Doyle now turns her attention to experiences that feel broader, more personal, and more difficult to put into words.
The result is a song that feels sincere from start to finish. As the first release of this new chapter, “Marina” introduces a more vulnerable side of Dea Doyle and suggests there is much more still to come.
