The Electro Wars

The long awaited music documentary has finally been released. Stephen Vasquez's Electro Wars explores the past, present, and future of electronic dance music. It's everything you see here. Blogs, electro, rap, hip hop, bedroom producers and famous icons. With interviews by the likes of A-Trak, Steve Aoki, Crookers, Dave-1, Laidback Luke, LMFAO, Lil' Jon,  Pitbull, Armand Van Helden, Spank Rock, and even a bit of Justice this film dives deep into the origins of the scene and makes convincing predictions as to where it might go.

This documentary has been in the making for what feels like years so I had some expectations when it came to presentation and material. I have to say it feels amateur in some parts. Awesome, they scored the interviews. But some of the questions these guys were asking almost made me facepalm. There was so much potential in this idea, they didn't hit it. And don't get me wrong the film is great. But it just could have been fucking amazing if these two knew what they were doing.

A sequel is coming out and that makes sense, with all the material they have it would have been a shame to cut stuff out. It's looking like these boys are gonna ride the wave until it dies and stick to that press pass like glue. I don't blame them, everybody loves partying with rockstars.

You can catch the full Electro Wars documentary this week on Pitchfork. It's on for this week only, so don't wait on this or you'll miss your chance.
