Count on Montreal-based producer, Da-P, to give you just the right hip-hop x (future) trap fix. The Soulection member is establishing quite the reputation, including a standout remix of Future’s “Move That Dope,” and a co-production with Fool’s Gold member High Klassified of Mick Jenkins’ “The Waters.” As for Da-P’s latest effort, he accomplishes everything I could hope for and more in a remix of OG Maco’s hit “U Guessed It,” imbuing creeping percussion to feed on the night prowlers. When I’m hearing OG Maco, I don’t want to hear a soulful or pop rendition, I want the rendition to hit even harder and get a crowd going wild as hell. Thank you Da-P for preserving the sanctity of ratchet turn-up.
Da-P has taken on several fan-favorite rap hits, and they are appropriately dubbed as “fire” and “epic,” but what I find particularly exceptional of his production style is how clean and stealthy it is. Yes, that’s how I am going to describe and introduce him to my peers now, Da-P, the stealthy sub-killer.
