Bang along to DJ SoySauce's edit of Sir Sly's "You Haunt Me"

Once a genre begins to take hold of a good piece of the music industry "pie," it becomes hard for artists to develop new tracks that stand out from all of the rest. There are many quality songs in the pipeline, but somehow they go overlooked as new tracks tumble in like clones. The only way to distinguish yourself from the rest is to test your limits on samples, rhythm, and ultimately your influence. That's exactly what DJ SoySauce does in his newest edit of Sir Sly's "You Haunt Me".

I first listened to Sir Sly when he released "Ghost" a ways back, jumpstarting his share of the music scape. I love his dark and gritty production, and most of all, his vocals. They sound very similar to How to Dress Well and Phoenix, if they had a baby together. This is why SoySauce's new joint is a test of limits, because anyone who can turn Sir Sly's arrangement into a trap ensemble should be applauded on more than just a blog level.

Soy emphasizes his ability to fluctuate volumes in a rhythmic nature, as we've seen before on many other edits. However, the true shocker in this one is the click-clacking of bells and glockenspiels cued in on the drop. I have found to love this trap style, as I've seen more and more of it through people like Royal and What So Not.

Take a listen to Soy's edit of "You Haunt Me" now, and check out Sir Sly's new tape on iTunes.
