CATHEDRALS re-introduce "Unbound" in stunning visual context

"Unbound" was the track that started it all for San Francisco-based CATHEDRALS about a year ago now. The duo, whose sound consists of a masterful amalgamation of indie and electronica, have since then released their debut self-titled EP on September 8 via Neon Gold, of which "Unbound" was the lead single of.

The Cathedrals EP in full features fives tracks, each of which have become notable singles in themselves. Titles like "Harlem", "Want My Love", and "OOO AAA" have all garnered hundreds of thousands of plays with ease. I swear they make it look second nature.

Today, as a way to pay homage to their success in the past year, CATHEDRALS have decided to drop a music video for "Unbound", and EARMILK has the pleasure of being the first to talk about it.

"Unbound" as a dark pop entity has been brought to live in a visual context, one that re-introduces the single via choreography, passion, and artistry. Director Sam Pressman (son of Edward Pressman) and cinematographer Isaac Bauman (known for his work on Drake's video for "Worst Behavior"), immerse CATHEDRALS' sonic emotional spaciousness into geometric light patterns. All the while depicting an intimate setting between the male and female body, the video's atmosphere is well suited to CATHEDRALS' synth-oriented single.

Even with a year separating "Unbound" and its visual counterpart, CATHEDRALS have successfully re-introduced the single in a visual world where "Unbound" truly belongs.
