Just a few months after 16 Bit Lolitas’ return to Anjunadeep with their Beat Organ EP, Ariaan Olieroock and Peter Kriek are back with another infectious EP. Deep In My Soul EP showcases that the Amsterdam based16 Bit Lolitas are the leaders of house music with substance and soul.
With the title track “Deep In My Soul,” Ariaan and Peter blend their distinguishing melodic grooves with a sublime vocal loop, resulting in an instant favorite conjuring up a soundscape of late nights and early sunrises, sure to make the rounds on the dance floor. With such a charismatic sound, it is not surprising that “Deep In My Soul” will be featured on the highly anticipated Anjunadeep 06.
Just as remarkable is the second track “Premium Emo,” an indie dance track sure to put the listener into a dream state of perpetual bliss. Definitely the most calming track on the EP, the use of slide guitar to create a beautiful, gliding sound, coupled with the track’s breakbeat groove, allows the vocals to soar high above the track.
Wrapping up the EP with style is “Higher State,” a track where Jazz takes over. Its progressing deeper end grooves and enthusiastic synths are the perfect backdrop for such soulful and jazzy melodies. The complexity of this EP is to be lauded, as it is not something most artists can achieve, especially not with this amount of substance. This EP should not be missed.
