Rochelle Jordan is one of the most underrated talents floating around the hip hop/R&B scene. There, I said it. Hailing from Toronto, but now residing in Los Angeles, the songstress has been leaving her mark on the music scene, with her own blend of R&B mixed in with some outlandish beats the come together to create a sound that has seen similar successes for the likes of The Weeknd & Lorine Chia. Her Pressure EP is one of the most played albums in my iTunes, and her recent singles such as "Whats the Fuss", produced by the enigmatic Illangelo, have displayed her amazingly delicate vocal talents off with great aplomb.
This week we have been treated to a brand new joint from Rochelle, "Back In The Day", which is taken from Kitty Cash's forthcoming collaborative mixtape Love The Free Vol 2. Long time friend and producer KLSH is on the boards again, and delivers another gem of a beat, with deep 808's and smooth percussion, underneath some light synth work that instantly puts you into a dream-like state. Jordan soulfully rides the beat gracefully, soulfully singing her way through, with her lyrics touching upon love and heartbreak.
You can stream "Back In The Day" below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked onto the internet on July 29th, when Kitty Cash's brand new project Love The Free Vol. 2 is set to drop.
