The second that January Thompson’s vocals cry out, forceful, haunting yet delicate and the simple distorted note tolls the listener falls down this rabbit hole of a remix into a decidedly unique and hip-hop driven territory. NYC based producer Blockhead’s addition of hard-hitting beats only take “Wonderland” further into that darkness, in a musical world where the evil queen wants her roses painted red or else they’ll run in blood. We think that anyone who listens to the track would prefer to stay in this alt-hip-hop version of Alice in Wonderland instead, I know that I didn’t want to come out.
Originally off of London based producer Little People, AKA Laurent Clerc’s sophomore effort “We Are But Hunks Of Wood,” this remixed track bodes well for the second release of his album, which features a rework of each song by one of his peers. But it is not the standard “remix album” and is instead a unique and poignant listen for fans deeply connected to more naturally executed electronic genres. His new rework will be available for download on Bandcamp and all other digital outlets on June 10th! If the first release of "We Are But Hunks Of Wood," already debuted at #4 on the iTunes charts we predict his remix compilation to go just as far… if not further than the original.
