Flatbush ZOMBiES bring the heat on "Belly"

The Flatbush ZOMBiES continued to bring the heat on their weekly Day of the Dead series, with the release of "Belly". The Architect also continued to impress with his production on "Belly", which features an intense high string sample that sounds similar to that of the melody of Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee". Like "Flight of the Bumblebee", "Belly" is an intense, provocative track that Erik Arc Elliott and Meechy Darko coast over with equally aggressive set of bars.

The track begins with an extended clip of the sample before it breaks down into Erik Arc Elliott's verse. Elliott unleashes a slew of rhymes as he reflects on hip-hop and drugs influence on him and his outlook on life. After Elliott's verse comes Meechy Darko who elaborates on the title of the track on the hook. Meechy raps, "But you know what they say, the beast lives in the East/While we deep in the belly of the city that never sleeps", an ode to the Beast Coast movement, which The Flatbush ZOMBiES are a part of as well as Pro Era, and The Underachievers. Then Meechy cuts through the mix with a killer verse, as he expiates on his drug-induced antics. The highlight of verse comes when Darko raps, "That P-I-M-P group of bitches on my mind shit/Sour diesel weed, THC make my eyes drip/N-Y-P-D they on my dick, L-S-D now a n*gga on his Christ shit".

With the release of "Belly" the Flatbush ZOMBiES prove that "the beast lives in the East". Expect more big things from the Flatbush ZOMBiES in the future, especially since their debut studio album is due out sometime this year. Keep up with the ZOMBiES Day of the Dead series by following them on Soundcloud.
