Besides being known for having the largest shopping mall in North America, Edmonton has been a thriving environment for dance music. Sure, it might not have the zest that places like Vancouver or Montreal offer, but underneath the Hoth-like winters lies a small, yet bustling scene that's poised for major growth. Though the city has certainly met its challenges (in true Footloose fashion, the city attempted to ban electronic music shows, but support from the city and notable DJ's including Gareth Emery and Steve Aoki squashed any opportunity of that happening,) it's been able to provide partygoers with a myriad of memorable nights.
