Omar LinX will already be a familiar talent to many a Zeds Dead fan after the Toronto MC and fellow Canadians teamed up on the Victor mixtape back in 2012; his latest endeavour “Interstellar” packs punch in all the right places and although he has said it won’t feature on the album, it still holds all the assurance you’ll need to cop his imminent M.O.R – Music or Revenge LP.
The track musters a sample based brilliance that is so characteristic of the production on the Victor tape that you will immediately twig that Zeds Dead must have had some involvement; hats off to Hooks -one half of the duo- for crafting up an upbeat string and key clad dub backing that bounces at the perfect tempo for Omar to elevate another notch and decorate with uplifting confidence.
Dub Step may not enjoy the frenzy and acclaim that surrounded it a good four years ago, however, when done right it’s still a sound to be marvelled at – particularly when the right MC is added to the mix. It’s become apparent that when these two parties get together they can do no wrong; the infusion of dub and seemingly familiar melodic samples paired with LinX’s effortless and instantly recognisable flow make for a potent but oh so amiable blend. Whatever you have to do today, get it done listening to this.
Although there is no clear release date, be sure to pin your ears back for M.O.R – Music or Revenge; it's set to be a banger. For now you can listen to “Interstellar” below and download it for free via. Omar LinX’s Soundcloud page.
