With a name that literally translates to "French house," Parisian producer Maison Francaise is keeping French touch alive with a host of funky and smooth tracks. I first fell in love with him when I stumbled upon his 1975 EP, which was released as a free download back in 2012. The washed-out grooves satisfied the strongest cravings for artists who championed the French sound, like Alan Braxe and Fred Falke, and also fits in with contemporaries like Viceroy and Cherokee. It’s surprising that more people aren’t swooning over these filtered gems.
The latest piece from Maison Francaise, “France Love Etc.”, is another laid-back groove, filled with layers of lush production and a funky beat. And like most of Maison Francaise’s tracks, this one can be downloaded for free.
