At the beginning of May, EARMILK joined forces with Warner Music UK to offer a challenge to all aspiring producers– a remix of  Parachute Youth’s #1 single “Can’t Get Better then This”. As promised as compensation for their work, one lucky winner (judged by Parachute Youth themselves) would see their creation receive an official release on Warner Music UK, accompanied by a proper servicing campaign.  The response to our challenge was phenomenal, with nearly 150 skilled producers submitting tracks in an attempt to claim the top spot. Over a week judging period, our readers, along with the EARMILK staff, narrowed these remixes down to 20. The 20 tracks were then handed over to Warner Bros. and Parachute Youth, who, after much deliberation have selected the winning remix.

Without further ado we are happy to announce that the winning remix is by Thomas White and Dear Lola!

The Thomas White and Dear Lola remix flipped the song to render a surprisingly clever chill-step tune with a clean keys-driven breakdown. Working towards a heavy, kick-inspired drop, White & Lola ditched the original's distinctive indie-swing, introducing a unique garage-like melody, with great sample work on the vox. Parachute Youth themselves stated that “When trying to remix someone we always want to add something different to the track. Both Johnny and I felt that with Thomas White and Dear Lola remix they did something really special".

Thomas White is a name that’s quickly catching on. He is well known in his hometown of Montreal as not only a founding member of RAW Records, but also as a man who knows how to bring the party. His productions tend to include deep bass work, sexy vocals and a signature rhythm that is unmatched by others. He draws on influences of both grime and trap, standing strongly amongst the vibes of 90s RnB. Collaborating with Dear Lola, a fellow local Montreal producer and a co-founder of RAW records, turned out to be quite fruitful for this remix. Dear Lola's hip hop influences and unique rhythmic talents were essential to making the track as unique and powerful as this one.

EARMILK and Warner Music would once again like to thank both the producers who submitted remixes and their fans that listened and supported the tracks. The quality and diversity throughout the remix submissions provided the ingredients for an engaging and captivating contest. Be sure to check back on EARMILK to keep updated on our upcoming competitions and contests, as we have some really exciting stuff in the pipeline.
