It seems to me that every other artist I write on is flocking to Australia right now, trying to catch the last month of the southern hemisphere’s summer. Add to that American artist Clockwork (one of my favorites of the Dim Mak crew), who will be touring down there with his alter ego RL Grime. Before taking off he left us with Surge, a two track electro house EP that also features Wynter Gordon’s famous vocals. “Surge” grabs your attention with shuddering synth chords that twist around Gordon’s vocals, added to this zipping electro sound that appears on the offbeat. However, I must say that “Tremor” is much more my style because of its diverse intensity. There seems to be a bit of everything here: a high that reminds me of Afrojack’s “Fatility”; Clockwork’s signature dirty grind a la “BBBS”; even a touch of trance manifests in the chords during the break.
