Mashup Monday – we're back again with some of the freshest mashes to start your week off right. These are the mashes that are worth hearing, so stop your searching and instead settle down at your computer… turn up your speakers… and get ready for that sweet nectar that only EARMILK can give ya. Let's GO!
It's the beginning of the week, and I've got a fresh batch of mashups to send your way. Starting us off is DRA'man's "Mine Goes Around", which employs recent Grammy winner The Black Keys and the man everyone has been recently talking about, Justin Timberlake. Simple 1 v 1 mashup that shows The Black Keys in a different light that I'm digging immensely. Continuing with the recent Grammy winner thread, newcomer Lizzart gives us "Moves Like Pink Matter", pairing Frank Ocean's "Pink Matter" with Maroon 5's "Moves like Jagger" and some of Lizzart's very own guitar riffs. Hadn't heard of this mashup before tonight, but Adam Levine's vocals take on a more soulful meaning when paired with "Pink Matter".
A pleasant surprise was seeing that Mitch-Mash had (finally) released another track, by the name of "Gatsby". It had been a pair of months since a release by this uber-talented mashup artist – one that really started my interest in mashups – and "Gatsby" maintained the standard that I've come to expect. Heck, even the Spice Girls sounded good (and that's not something I can usually say). Perhaps one of my favorite mashups of this week is by Kill mR DJ, who breaks the norm by structuring his mashup to highlight dance vocals (Swedish House Mafia's "Save The World" and Zedd's/Matthew Koma's "Spectrum") on top of a rock instrumental (Muse's "Resistance"). Quite unique, and a structure that I wouldn't mind seeing more often.
Keeping the writeup short and sweet, but there are many mashes ready to preview below so hit me up in the comments with your thoughts and opinions. Until next week…
