The inspiration behind "Pieces" came from a deeply personal period in the life of AMOS & RIOT NIGHT's David McClelland, following the loss of his grandmother and the end of a relationship within days of one another. Rather than telling that story in a literal way, the song centers on the process of putting life back together after everything changes.
Built around the lyric, "I'm picking up the pieces," the collaboration gradually took shape through songwriting sessions with Lucy Starr before Grant Trowbridge joined to help develop the final production.
Musically, "Pieces" embraces the darker side of Trance, drawing influence from classic driving sounds while retaining the melodic style AMOS & RIOT NIGHT is known for.
