Producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Louie El Ser has released her latest single, “Perra (i wanna be your dog).”
Based between San Francisco and Paris, Louie El Ser’s new track features her singing in Spanish and giving up her usual electronic and selvática roots for something much more raw and jagged, and heavily influenced by The Stooges.
A mash-up of go-go music, bounce, and 1970s punk, Louie El Ser describes the track as “a sonic representation of the cyclical mental loops found in a one-sided romance; a tribute to ‘delusional lovers’ who plunge full-force into relationships they know are destined to fail.”
The chorus’ repetition of “I wanna be your perra” underscores this destructive, unhealthy dynamic, reducing the speaker to something less than human and expressing a desire to be led around by the object of their affection.
“Perra (i wanna be your dog)" is energetic, restless, and mildly unhinged – and Louie El Ser excels at it.
