Milan-born and London-based alt-rock artist Nico Cann fuses raw emotion with a rich and anthemic sound on new single "Take Me To The River," weaving a meditative journey reflecting on choices of the past and future.
Rooted at the crossroads of introspection and energy, the track unfurls a signature blend of warming and nostalgic rock elements with a contemporary indie lift to craft a sonic experience that's confessional and resonant all at once. With biting guitars, soaring keys, driving drums and expressive lead vocals, the track is a cinematic yet authentic as it offers an enchanting peek at his debut album Silver Lining.
With an expansive soundscape led by sincere songwriting, the track builds steadily with youthful uncertainty and hope. Establishing his growth as an artist, the track celebrates his genuine spirit and charisma in equal parts as he evokes real human connection across each explosive note.
Speaking of the track, he says, "I began writing "Take Me to the River" three years ago. The song went through multiple iterations and changes, especially lyrically. Like many of the other songs I'm writing for my debut project, Silver Lining, this one analyses a moment of feeling lost, or better, the limbo of uncertainty right after a breakup. "Should I call her, should I find my way?" The song was conceived as a dialogue between myself and a taxi driver. I'm asking him to literally take me to the river, the river Thames, because I see the river as a place of meditation, somewhere I could seek answers and reflect upon my choices, the past, and the future."
Capturing relatable stories of growing up in a fast-paced world, Nico's upcoming project written, performed, and produced largely on his own is one that brims with heart and honesty.
