Award-nominated pop auteur JORDY has released his new single “DUMB”.
Flawlessly-crafted pop perfection, “DUMB” is equal parts humour, vulnerability, and punchy pop hooks put together to create an endlessly replayable track.
According to JORDY himself: “Over the last year and a half, I have spent so much time thinking about my next album. What I want to say, how I want to say it, what it means to me, and what it could mean to others, but on the day I wrote “DUMB” I realised that I needed a day to NOT think. I was in the studio with some of my best friends and we decided to chase that concept; not thinking too hard, not taking anything too seriously, writing simply for the love of pop music and for the sake of having FUN.”
That sense of turning your brain off to have some silly fun very much comes through on “DUMB”, which is absurdly catchy and repetitive in a way that might not have been handled as well by a lesser artist. In JORDY’s hands, it’s almost anthemic, the slight dark edge to its poppy sound really adding to the sense of the “DUMB” fun being absolutely necessary for your own wellbeing.
In addition, JORDY has also announced that his fourth studio album will be released on July 10 via EMPIRE. What started out as a break-up record has turned into something more about the entire process of a break-up, healing and all, and the pressure people put on themselves when they’re struggling to leave a relationship they know is bad for them but that they can’t quite find a way out of.
