Vermont-hailing, Nashville-based talent obee shares house/dance-pop offering “DON’T STOP ME," diving into being gaslit by others and the voice of doubt that bogs us down.
A relatable exploration of the pressures of comparison, the emotive track breaks down adversity, toxicity and emerging stronger, led by personal experience and resonant storytelling in equal parts. Speaking of the track, he says, "This song is for any of the kids and adults facing opposition, and a reminder that the only one really stopping you from doing something you love is yourself. It's also a taunt, and an expression of myself and how I deal with hate and self doubt. I've had so many reasons to quit and this is my middle finger to that."
Self-described as a "banger that bleeds emotion," the track is as energetic as it is vulnerable as it validates our feelings while urging us to move forward from the weight of it.
With a decade of musical experience behind him, Owen Barclay is now getting his breakthrough as a life-long passion for his craft finally takes shape with a steady, anthemic signature, turning up the anticipation for more music – including an EP – to come.
