1.What is the message/inspiration behind your upcoming mini album?
KAMDEN : Currently, we are living with the standards that the world has established, and we have finally found ourselves through one another. And we realize that the one who helped us understand this was not God, but ourselves.
BRIAN : With this mini album, people can understand it in many different ways. The way I view it is that with our title song 'GOD', there are many times in life when you might feel down or lost. But always know that there is always someone above looking out for you and that it's going to be okay.
MACKIAH : The message behind the new mini album “DEFINITION” is about how we find ourselves and discover our true selves after the battles we have been through.
SEUNGMO : This album is about establishing and defining AMPERS&ONE’s identity as a group.
SIYUN : I think this album carries a message about finding and defining what truly represents AMPERS&ONE more clearly.
JIHO : I think this album has a wide range of songs, so listeners will be able to experience a lot of different charms.
KYRELL : This album, “DEFINITION,” as the name implies, is about redefining ourselves. It’s about writing our own story, even though we may be “underdogs.” We are the only ones who decide who we will become in this world.
- How has your creative process evolved over time?
KAMDEN : We tried to watch a lot of videos and references that could help us understand the mood of what our title song 'GOD' could convey.
BRIAN : I think with this album, we definitely tried our best to be involved with every little detail in this album. Trying to make this album more authentic to ourselves.
MACKIAH : I have been able to participate in the making of our music through rap, and after each song, I have improved by trying different genres and styles
SEUNGMO : We’ve been communicating a lot more with each other, and we’re also more confident in sharing our ideas with the company. We’re really trying to create music that truly represents us.
SIYUN : Compared to before, we now have more opportunities to show ANDEAR various sides of us through musical content like covers and self-produced songs.
JIHO : While preparing this album, I also participated in creating choreography drafts, trying to contribute ideas and share opinions on what kind of vibe would work best.
KYRELL : Something that has helped me a lot is letting go of perfection. Sometimes seeking perfection can become a roadblock preventing real growth and progress.
- What are your personal favourite songs from the mini album?
KAMDEN : My favorite one is 'All Eyes On You' because it just makes me very emotional, and personally, I really love the ending part of 'All Eyes On You'.
BRIAN : My personal favorite songs are 'All Eyes On You' and 'Hit Me Up'.
MACKIAH : Personally, I really enjoy partying to 'My Way' and 'All Eyes On You' is also a track I like to listen to at any time of the day
SEUNGMO : My favorite track is 'Tears In Your Smile.' I’ve always liked ballads, and I think the message of the lyrics can bring comfort to listeners.
SIYUN : My favorite track is 'Tears In Your Smile'.
JIHO : I really like the song “What You Talking About” because it’s even more fun when you watch it with the choreography. I especially find the repetitive chorus really catchy and enjoyable.
KYRELL :I think the 6 tracks all have their own merit. I really like the dance break in 'GOD,' and I like 'Tears In Your Smile' as well; it brings out a lot of emotions. I’m pretty satisfied with my recording on that track.
- How do you think you’ve influenced each other in terms of your creative or musical approach? Have you been inspired by each other in any way?
KAMDEN : For the choreography of 'GOD,' the key point is a relaxed and fluid movement style, so I looked up how nobles in the Joseon Dynasty carried themselves and also referenced traditional sword dances.
BRIAN : Although we haven't been able to share a lot of our personal work just yet, we do give each other a lot of feedback for the songs we create. Just collaborating with the other members, seeing how they approach music, is also pretty inspiring. With this knowledge, I hope to release some of my personal work in the future too. Look forward to it.
MACKIAH : KAMDEN and I give each other feedback and suggestions after we make our versions of the raps and decide which one suits the song more, or how we can improve them
SEUNGMO : As we work on self-produced songs together, I think we learn a lot from each other—especially from each member’s musical style and their creative process.
SIYUN : When SEUNGMO or JIHO sings, I pay attention to their vocal techniques, and when they compose, I observe their style and the kind of music they create. I try to apply what I learn from them to my own music.
JIHO : I usually work on toplines and lyrics, and for that, I need tracks that match the vibe I’m going for. Seungmo has been producing a lot of tracks and improving really quickly, so when I explain the kind of sound I want, he creates the track, and I write the topline and lyrics on top of it.
KYRELL : I receive a lot of inspiration from my members. We like to share good songs and often collaborate on personal songwriting projects as well. We share a lot of ideas when it comes to performance and choreography as well, which makes things more fun.
- What genres, styles or concepts are you most interested to experiment with in future?
KAMDEN : I'm very interested in trying a heavy bass hip-hop song.
BRIAN : I'm definitely a Pop/R&B type of person. So I'd love to do something like that in the future.
MACKIAH : I would like to try a funk-type song in the future because I think it would be a fun song to perform
SEUNGMO : While I like strong, conceptual styles, I’d also love to try a more minimal but cool and laid-back hip-hop style.
SIYUN : I really like the genres and styles we’re currently showing, but I’d definitely like to try an old-school genre as well.
JIHO : I’d like to try doing a song with a sexy concept in the future.
KYRELL : Though I know it doesn’t exactly suit me, I’ve always wanted to try some rapping. Or maybe experiment with jazz!
- What’s been the most memorable or surreal moment in your career so far? What’s on your bucket list in terms of your music?
KAMDEN : I would probably say just every comeback because it just makes me so hyped, and I always couldn't wait to show the new song to our fans. For the bucket list, I would love to make a rap song with our member MACKIAH.
BRIAN : I think our first North America tour was pretty surreal to me because we went to so many different cities and there were new people at every stop. It's crazy to me how these people are all actually singing our songs. In terms of music, I want to be able to tell stories with our music, which we haven't really been able to do yet. But I'm sure we'll have an opportunity in the future.
MACKIAH : The most memorable moment in my career so far would be our recent fan concerts! It was such a great experience being able to perform for our fans from different countries. One thing on my bucket list is to cover a vocal song
SEUNGMO : When we went on our first North America tour, it felt unreal because we received even more love and support than we expected. My bucket list is to have a completely sold-out world tour.
SIYUN : Whenever we go on tour in the U.S., I often look out the window during free time or while traveling. Seeing the beautiful, wide landscapes makes me realize, “I’m really in the U.S. performing here,” and those moments stay with me. I’d also love to perform at the Super Bowl someday.
JIHO : When we had our first fan concert, I wondered if it would really be possible to perform twice in one day. But once we actually did it, it was so fun and memorable.
KYRELL : We recently had our first Fan Concert, which stands out as one of the most memorable moments so far. We finally got to perform songs we had never performed before, which made it lots of fun! For my bucket list, I want to participate in the writing process of a song for our album.
- If anyone tunes into AMPERS&ONE for the first time – in your own words, what can they expect?
KAMDEN : We have songs that give so many different genres, so you could just choose your own style, and whatever you expect will be there.
BRIAN : I think they can expect a really fun time, a little bit of goofiness, and a lot of head bobbing.
MACKIAH : They can expect the unexpected, as we have music for everyone and anyone. You can also expect to laugh, as I’m sure you would love spending time with us :)
SEUNGMO : Each member has their own unique charm and strengths, so no matter what kind of concept you like, I think you’ll find something to love about us.
SIYUN : Hello! We’ve been showing a wide range of music through various genres, styles, and concepts so far. Please look forward to AMPERS&ONE as we continue to grow and become even cooler. Thank you!
JIHO : The title track of this mini album, 'GOD,' is something we’ve put a lot of effort into both musically and performance-wise, so I hope you enjoy it.
KYRELL : I think diversity is a keyword for our team. Our discography contains a variety of genres, and our team members also come from around the world. But we’re also fun-loving, and I would say our music is generally very encouraging.
