Aiming through the glass: Mel Denisse’s haunting ode to beautiful isolation with "aiming alone"

Nashville-based artist Mel Denisse continues to carve out her own lane with her haunting new single, “aiming alone.” The single is the first of the year from this riser, following two single releases "going nowhere" and "Like a Fiend" released last year.

Blending alt-rock grit with the immersive haze of shoegaze, the track captures the isolating feeling of being visible yet profoundly unseen, as though separated from the world by glass. Lyrics including, "How does it feel / To be so alone / Again / I've been overwhelmed," shows this narrative. Musically, Denisse’s delicate yet urgent vocal performance floats through waves of distorted, atmospheric production, creating a cinematic tension that lingers long after the final note. "aiming alone" features lush layered soundscapes, captivating beats and a melancholic hue that penetrates the song. There’s a raw honesty in the songwriting, particularly in the outro, where resignation transforms into quiet resolve, an acceptance of walking a solitary path while still striving forward.

Mel Denisse proves once again that her genre-defiant approach is both refreshing and emotionally resonant. “aiming alone” isn’t just a song, it’s an atmosphere, a confession, and a statement of artistic identity. The creator promises more music to come, ensuring 2026 will be a massive year for Mel Denisse.
