Toxic Rob steps into a new chapter with 'Never Felt So Good (NFSG)' [Interview]

Following the momentum of his Toxic Summer EP, Toxic Rob pivots into an unexpected but deeply personal lane with his new EP, Never Felt So Good (NFSG), a body of work that glows with gratitude, emotional clarity, and artistic evolution.

Where Toxic Summer thrived in chaotic energy and heat, this new chapter finds Rob grounded, steady, and wide open to the moment.

The shift didn’t happen randomly. As Rob wrapped Toxic Summer, life was moving at full speed behind the scenes.

“Parallel to the release, my wife was getting ready to give birth to our daughter, Nella,” he shares. The couple had just bought a home after a year on the road, and he was juggling renovations, prepping the rollout, and anticipating fatherhood all at once.

“This was a crazy time,” he admits. But that whirlwind sparked something deeper.

As Toxic Rob started mapping out his usual plan for quarterly EP, he realized that the next one couldn’t just be another collection of turn-up tracks–it needed to reflect the magnitude of the moment. “It all began to flow effortlessly… and prove to be something necessary,” he says. “I wanted people who’ve followed my journey to feel me a little deeper.”

That intention radiates across the project. NFSG moves between trap, dancehall, global rhythms, and introspective rap without ever losing its center. Rob says that fusion isn’t a strategy as it is simply who he is. “My attachment to a stir fry of sounds is my sound,” he explains. “It’s a world sound from all the influences I’m around every day. My music is like a scrapbook for my life experiences.”

The opener, “MOTION” (prod. SHIRIBEATZ), immediately sets a different tone than what fans might expect. A hypnotic guitar riff glides over crisp trap drums while Rob delivers a calm, reflective hook, almost like he’s taking a breath before letting listeners in. From there, he shifts into warmer territory with “COME TO” (prod. SVGAR BEATS), a bouncy dancehall cut fueled by tropical percussion and tender, romantic lyricism. The song highlights a softer element of his writing, something Rob says he’s been leaning into more intentionally. It’s effortless, catchy, and one of the project's most replayable moments.

The title track, “Never Felt So Good,” is the project’s heartbeat and also its most experimental moment. Rob produced it himself, weaving a Mexican mariachi sample into a fast-paced dance groove. The fusion sounds surprising on paper, but in his world, it makes perfect sense. “I go through many listening phases,” he laughs. “I had a week where I tapped into mariachi, salsa, merengue… and thought how dope it’d be to flip some of these into hip-hop or dance beats.” The hook came instantly. “Never felt so good as I do right now” was a freestyle mumble he laid down in one take. He didn’t overthink it. “Usually when it comes with low effort, I trust God put the words there.”

The EP closes with “OUTRO” (prod. TAKA), a track that feels less like a song and more like Rob cracking his chest open. “This type of record is extremely hard for me,” he admits. “It’s like being under a microscope.” He’d always believed fans wanted the fun, energetic version of him—but life had changed. He had changed. And the song captures that shift in real time.

“When I recorded it, my daughter was literally laying on my chest. Even her little cries are in the song. It made it all feel so right.” That moment unlocked something. “It made me more comfortable pushing myself,” he says. “I’m inspired to let go of limitations and insecurities when testing new sounds.”

This confidence has been building for a while. Rob’s recent milestones, from a celebrated collaboration with TroyBoi to performing at iconic venues like Red Rocks and The Mirage, have reshaped how he sees himself as an artist. “Working with Troy is motivating—he’s a legend and a wonderful human,” Rob says. “The co-signs and shows have proven to myself and others that this isn’t a one-off. My sound is elevating. The fanbase feels more like family now.”

And at the core of everything, gratitude anchors this new season of his life. Not the performative kind, but the grounded, day-to-day version. “I’m beyond grateful for life,” he says. “For my family, my parents, my wife, my newborn. Their health, love, and happiness—that’s my motivation daily.” Creatively, he’s just as thankful. Even with the chaos of fatherhood and deadlines, the ideas keep coming. “One of my bros taught me, ‘listen to life,’” he says. “Life has been speaking to me so much lately. Staying present is giving me inspiration I didn’t even know I needed.”

Never Felt So Good is not just a new EP; he is stepping into a new era with clarity, confidence, and purpose. A version of himself he wasn’t ready to share before, but one that feels overdue.
