BombayMami steps into a new chapter with recent single "Curse" [Interview]

With every release, BombayMami continues to expand her world, and her newest single, “Curse,” out now via MNRK, marks one of her most introspective turns yet.

Draped in smoky vocals and soul-soaked production, the track captures the quiet moment of clarity when you finally choose yourself over someone who never truly saw your worth. It is a shift into deeper emotional territory for the rising artist, following the fiery confidence of “Hot Boyz” and “Fire in Delhi,” both of which earned heavy BBC Radio support and led to a standout performance at SXSW London.

For BombayMami, this new chapter feels rooted in who she has always been, an artist shaped by duality. “BombayMami is a bridge between worlds,” she shares. “She’s classical and contemporary, spiritual but playful, grounded but ambitious.”

Growing up between Switzerland and India, she was surrounded by contrasts, a blend of discipline and devotion, mountains and mantras.

“Those extremes naturally found their way into my sound,” she says. “Indian classical instruments, Western production, melodies that sit somewhere in between. That upbringing taught me to be fluid — to mix, merge, and make something uniquely mine.”

That fluidity has also opened doors creatively, most noticeably through her collaboration with global producer TroyBoi on “Beggin.” The record sparked attention for its genre-blurring chemistry — something she credits to a natural connection from the start.

“Troy heard my music and instantly connected with it,” she recalls. “We started sharing ideas, and ‘Beggin’ just came to life. His beats carry this global pulse, and my vocals brought a touch of South Asian soul.”

Working with him was equally transformative.

“Troy’s a genius with sound. He makes minimal production feel massive. He gave me space to bring my identity into the song, and we trusted each other creatively. He’s incredibly humble — it felt like two worlds meeting in rhythm.”

“Curse” arrives from a more vulnerable place, one grounded in self-reflection. “It’s about choosing yourself even when it hurts,” she explains. “Peace is something you have to protect.” She wanted the song to feel tender yet unshakable — a quiet reclaiming of power that many listeners will recognize. “Strength can be soft. ‘Curse’ is a reminder that walking away doesn’t mean you’ve given up — it means you’re honoring yourself.”

The release follows the viral momentum of her Fire in Delhi snowboarding campaign, a visually striking moment that hit over 10 million views and drew praise from figures like Maya Jama, Sid Sriram, Biig Piig, and Kojey Radical.

BombayMami is only getting started. With more singles on the way and an ambitious year of performances ahead, BombayMami is shaping a new era defined by intention and evolution.

BombayMami's also putting the finishing touches on her upcoming project, Peaceful Attitude. “It’s about growth — the woman I was, the artist I’ve become, and the energy I want to bring into the world next,” she says.

Listen to “Curse" out now on all major streaming platforms.
